I created this blog so that I could showcase my own writing. I got the domain and was excited about putting my work "out there". I'd hoped it would be wildly popular, gain world-wide notoriety, and lead to unknown millions (when everyone realizes how great my novel is and it sells better than The Bible).
Instead of all that happening, I got scared and it was no longer fun to think about because I was doing it all myself. I can handle keeping up with the blog, but reading my own stuff wasn't helping my creativity. So I tried to look for ways to get myself motivated again. One day, it hit me! Make a space where other writers can post their own work!
There are sites online (some of them are linked from here) that cater to specific genres, types, lengths, subjects, ect. You can find a place to put your writing all over the web. But I wanted a quality site dedicated to fiction that had standards of excellence. There are also sites that specialize in writing tips, tricks, techniques, and other helpful information for the structural aspect of writing. I didn't want my site to be anything like that.
So I created Fiction Writers' Blog. Notice the word "Writers'". That word implies that the blog doesn't belong to just one writer. It belongs to us all. I haven't promised myself a huge success with this project, but I have promised that I'll try my best to provide quality content, an open mind, and a willing spirit.
If you'd like to be a contributor, please see our Rules page. If you read something you like, tweet, digg, stumble, or spread the word any way you can. And if an author's caught your eye, feel free to contact them.
I hope you enjoy the site! Thank you for visiting.
